Angelica blinked the rain out of her eyes as she hung in mid air, floating above the dark trees. Raindrops lit up as they fell around her, illuminated by her power. “Come with me.” she called to a boy who stood on a balcony of a large old house covered in wisteria.

“It’s not a good idea. What if we can’t come back. What if they don’t have air?”

“I’ll protect us.” said Angellica. “I love you, I won’t let anything happen to you.”

“We’re 21 years old, we can barely look after ourselves, let alone each other. Why don’t you stay here with me. We can move in together. I’ll make you breakfast in bed. You can get chickens.”

“You’d give up an adventure traveling through the universe for chickens?” Angelica turned away reaching into the darkness, feeling for the edge of the world. Her power flared and she ripped into reality, a tear forming in the night sky showing a bright world full of mountains with three moons and enormous creatures floating through the air. “If you don’t want to come, I’ll go without you, I can’t waste my life being normal when there is so much universe to explore.”

“No.” said the boy, shaking his head as tiers filled his eyes.

Angelica waited a few extra seconds, hoping he would change his mind. With a great effort she turned away, flying through the portal, selling it behind her.
